Soldier Field Stock Car Races 1949 250

This panoramic photograph was taken by Tom Cavanaugh, father of Brad Cavanaugh. He was sixteen years old when he shot a series of photographs from his seats during the stock car races. The Hurricane Racing association started the races inside the stadium. When NASCAR saw how popular the races were with the fans, they took over the races in the mid 1950's.
